Zimbabwe

L2

While the overall cluster approach has been effective in responding to emergency in Zimbabwe, the need for more specific coordination mechanism on child protection at national level has been recognized - leading to the formation of a National Child Protection Working Group.

It aims to attain an effective and predictable response to child protection issues in Zimbabwe through improved coordination and advocacy among agencies involved in child protection programming in both emergency, recovery and regular times.
The Child Protection Working Group, based in Harare, is co-chaired by the Department of Social Welfare (Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare) and UNICEF, who equally share the responsibilities of leadership.
