Webinar: Mitigating the Impact of Explosive Ordnance on Children through Collaborative Humanitarian Action

The prevention of, and response to, increased number of child victims from explosive ordnance is a critical protection issue, thus a core priority for the Child Protection and Mine Action Area of Responsibilities (AoRs), and the Global Protection Cluster.

The inter-agency Protection Standby Capacity (ProCap) recently deployed a Senior Protection Advisor to research current practices of collaboration in risk education and victim assistance across clusters; and to identify promising practices and develop an Explosive Ordnance Child Casualties Prevention and Response Package. The Global Education Cluster is a key partner in this initiative, which will also feed into the current development of a Protection/Health cluster collaboration framework.

Purpose of the session:

  • To present the results of the research and the draft package.
  • To receive feedback from key stakeholders and raise awareness among practitioners within our clusters and partners.
  • To decide on the next steps.

Facilitators:

Michael Copland (Child Protection AoR Coordinator)

Christelle Loupforest (Mine Action AoR Coordinator)

Speakers: Murat Yucer (ProCap) and representatives from the Mine Action AoR, Child Protection AoR, and Education Cluster.

Start and finish time: Thursday, 11 June from 1.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. (CET)
