My Hero is You: How kids can fight COVID-19!

This heart-warming and beautifully illustrated book tells the story of Sara, who suddenly finds herself living in a world which has become a scary place. When her mum tells her about the new coronavirus, Sara has one thing in mind – to make sure that other children know how to protect themselves, wherever they live. With the help of her new friend, Ario, she travels across the globe and meets Salem, Sasha, Leila and Kim. Together, the new friends learn not only how to protect themselves and the people they love, but also how to manage difficult emotions when confronted with a new and rapidly-changing reality.

My Hero is You is a book written for children around the world affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. It is intended to be read to children aged 6-11 years, by a parent, caregiver or teacher.

The book is a project of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee Reference Group on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings, a unique collaboration of United Nations agencies, nongovernmental organizations, international agencies and academics.
