Station:                                    Remote

Budget:                                    Up to $ 9000 USD

Background

Save the Children (SC) is investing in strengthening capacities in child protection in humanitarian action in five countries in West and Central Africa.  Together with the Child Protection Area of Responsibility (CPAoR)[1], SC will be adapting an existing training package about Improving the Coordination of Case Management Responses Training.

The adaptation is to contextualise the training materials to the West and Central Africa region, including case studies and adapting modules to meet the learning needs of the target audience. The adaptation will also involve taking the training from a face-to-face model to a remotely delivered model. It is expected that the new remote model will include mixed methods of delivery, such as videos, podcasts, interactive remote-delivered sessions, group activities, and coaching sessions.

It is anticipated that the training will be delivered in French in multiple remote sessions over the course of several weeks in October/ November 2020.

Description of work

To support the remote delivery of the ‘Improving the Coordination of Case Management Responses’ training package, SC is seeking a consultant specializing in video production and graphic design.

The aim of the consultancy is to develop video and other visual materials for the training package.  Examples of products may include:

  • A 5-7 minute mixed media video on a topic related to coordination of case management responses;
  • Infographics to support learning on complex topics like information management, coordination with other sectors etc.
  • Visual design of the final training package; and
  • Other graphics/visuals to be agreed.

Priority contexts for the video include Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Democratic Republic of Congo and Mauritania. In order to meet the needs of staff who are visual learners and because many capacity building resources now need to be delivered online, the audio-visual products need to explain written guidance documents and tools.

Expectations

The selected candidate will be responsible for technical production of high-quality video.  The consultant will also be responsible for producing infographics and other visuals to be agreed in the first week of the consultancy.

SC will lead the coordination of inputs and reviews during development, but the consultant is expected to have a high level of cooperation, professionalism, and adaptability will need to support inputs and feedback from national and local actors in the West and Central Africa Region.

Tasks related to video production are likely to include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing and finalising video script in collaboration with SC and other stakeholders;
  • Creating visuals for videos (e.g. illustrations, drawings, reusing existing photo and video content) in line with branding guidelines;
  • Submiting a preliminary ‘look and feel’ (e.g. video storyboard);
  • Supporting national colleagues to record voiceovers and possibly talking heads for case studies to be added to videos; and
  • Independently conducting post-production editing and finalization, thereby requiring a digital audio workstation and the respective programs for e.g. cutting, sound editing, adding subtitles. If music is embedded, service provider must hold the rights for the music to be used for the series or ensure a creative commons license for their use for this purpose; and

NB. Translations and embedding of subtitles into video content is highly preferred.

Tasks related to additional visual products are likely to include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing and finalising technical content, in collaboration with SC and other stakeholders;
  • Advising on the most appropriate visual format for technical content;
  • Creating infographics, handouts, and other visuals to support learning in line with branding guidelines
  • Visual design of the final training package
