Global event on how food security impacts children and their protection

The Global Child Protection Area of Responsibility, The Global Food Security Cluster, The Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action and Plan International organized a global online event to spotlight how food security impacts children and their protection in humanitarian contexts and recommendations for urgent collaborative action. We are pleased to share with you the following documents from the event: 

  • Recording of the event, which was also streamed on YouTube (click here to access the Youtube stream) 

  • The consolidated presentation, which includes a summary of the evidence review findings on linkages between child protection and food security, the situation for children in Somalia from a child protection, food security and nutrition perspective as well as examples from Myanmar and Egypt on how collaboration between child protection and food security actors can enhance outcomes for children. 

  • Recommendations to child protection and food security actors, humanitarian coordinators and country teams and donors - these have developed by child protection and food security actors for urgent action on preventing and addressing protection risks and harm in food insecure contexts and are available in English, French, Arabic and Spanish 

  • Consolidated opening by the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, Catherine Sozi and closing remarks by the Marie-Helene Kyprianou, Global Food Security Cluster Coordinator
